Events: Texas Outdoor Family Workshop

Fishing at Cedar Hill State Park

Looking for weekend plans? Head for the great outdoors and learn some camping basics with the Texas Outdoor Family (TOF) workshop at Cedar Hill State Park. At this overnight workshop, you and your family will learn how to build a fire, cook at a campsite, identify wildlife and go geocaching, kayaking and fishing. And Junior Rangers (i.e. your kids) can earn a cool patch for participating in the activities. All the equipment is provided; you just need to bring sleeping bags, food, toiletries and firewood to heat things up.

Kayaking at Cedar Hill State Park

This is the last call for campers: registration closes tomorrow. Last minute, we know, but this is too good to pass up. The cost is $65 per family for up to six people. Not a bad price for learning skills you can take on your next family adventure. If you’ve never been camping, this is a great opportunity to see what you’re missing.

Learning to pitch a tent

. . . .

If this is too last-minute for the not-so-spontaneous types, don’t worry; there are more workshops happening in North Texas in the coming months. December 8–9 your family can celebrate Christmas cowboy-style at Lake Mineral Wells State Park, while learning camping and rock-climbing basics. The deadline to register for that outdoor experience is December 5. Visit the TOF calendar for more information about upcoming events.
