Captain Hope’s Kids
This week you’ll be sharing your love with family and friends via oven-baked cookies and homemade Valentine’s cards. So consider showing some love to those in need by getting crafty through the Hope-in-a-Box program by Captain Hope’s Kids. Fill a shoebox with Valentine’s cards, toys, gifts, birthday party supplies or toiletries for kids living in Dallas homeless shelters. Decorate it and wrap it, and call ahead to drop the boxes at the organizations office, open Monday–Friday from 9am–5pm.
Groovy Love Kids Club
Keep the love going at a ‘60s-themed kids program at The Parks at Arlington. Meet on the lower level near Barnes & Noble at 11am for singing, dancing, stories and crafts. The activities are structured for ages 2–6, but all ages are welcome.
Mardi Gras celebration in Lake Dallas
Fat Tuesday, better known as Mardi Gras, gets a bad rap for wild parties. The city of Lake Dallas is promising a family-friendly festival – no alcohol allowed – at City Hall from 5–9pm. Watch the parade down Main Street, listen to music by The N’awlins Gumbo Kings, compete in the Mardi Gras mask and costume contest, and get your fill of crawfish and other Cajun favorites.
