We have the privilege of featuring Dallas designer/artist/Instagrammer extraordinaire Kyle Steed in June’s issue of DallasChild. Kyle’s hand-lettered approach is fresh and fun, and his illustrations have been popping up all over the area of late. He routinely posts little nuggets of illustrated typographic inspiration (as well as the lovely iPhone photos he’s become known for) via Instagram, where we first came across his work.
Kyle loves what he does, and it shows. Learn more about him at kylesteed.com. Also try out his recipe for a perfectly cooked piece of bacon. And we’re giving you a taste of it above, but see his awesome interpretation of June (in its entirety) when you pick up our latest issue, on newsstands this week.

Here’s a peek at the sweet illustration gracing this month’s Agenda (our list of cool happenings for kids in May). Local designer Cory Say put his drawing and hand-lettering skills to good use to give us a sunny interpretation of this summer month.
Cory is a concept-driven designer/art director who loves all facets of design. He’s especially head-over-heels in love with hand lettering and illustration – as evidenced by the excellent work on his website – as well as being a super-fun guy! Pick up the latest issue of DallasChild to see Cory’s full illustration … not to mention our list of fun activities May has in store.

We’re excited to announce that our April issues will be featuring Magnificent Beard. What is a Magnificent Beard, you ask? Well, besides being an impressive style of facial hair, Magnificent Beard is an award-winning illustrating and designing duo (who also happened to create a cool image you can see in April’s KidCulture section). The self-described screen-printers- and illustrators-by-night and art-directors-by-day produce handmade prints, many of which are clever band posters, in their East Dallas studio. We are thrilled to have their work gracing the pages of our magazines.
See more of them at magnificentbeard.com. And check them out in the April issues of DallasChild, FortWorthChild and NorthTexasChild, on newsstands this week!
