When it comes to clothing, it can be considered a necessity, but for those in less fortunate situations it is a privilege. Often times it’s easy to forget that there are many kids around the world that don’t have apparel. Help break the cycle of poverty by purchasing a t-shirt or hoodie from Sevenly. Shirts come in gray, black and red for $22 and black hoodies are $35. Plus, purchases will supply seven kids in Bolivia clothes.

When you do good, you feel good. Pack some philanthropy in to your weekend with some of these fun activities … all of which give back.
You can start off your Saturday by taking a trip back in time. At Breakfast with the Stars 2011 at the Tarrant Area Food Bank, you can brunch with some of your favorite childhood heroes, from Spiderman to Tweety Bird to Cinderella (you know you’ve always wondered what it’s like to dance in a glass shoe!). Chat with real-life heroes such as firefighters and athletes, and check out martial arts demos and interactive exhibits from the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and more. Proceeds benefit the food bank’s BackPacks for Kids program.
In Big D, head over to White Rock Lake Dog Park for the Raise the Woof Pup Rally. You’ll join your neighbors in the lake’s centennial celebration, with live music, agility courses and pet-related vendors. Benefits the dog park.
Lastly, to get your blood flowing Saturday morning, lace up those sneaks and head over to McKinney’s Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary for Take a Hike! for Your Community. Take in the beautiful scenery as you walk at your own pace, all the while raising money for The Heard and Volunteer McKinney Center. Continental breakfast and giveaways included.

Get a little artistic this weekend—for a good cause! This Saturday from 11am-1pm the Dallas Museum of Art is offering families the chance to come in and create a reflective art piece for the SLANT 45 regional art exhibit, debuting this fall. SLANT 45 is a partnership between Big Thought and the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, and the goal this weekend is to show everyone the great impact that service learning is having on North Texas kids—what’s not to like?
Reservations are required, so hurry up and call 469/621-8989. The workshop is free, and registered participants will get free museum admission!

Get your bathing suits out of storage … It may have snowed just mere days ago, but Great Wolf Lodge is revved up and ready to ring in spring.
This Friday and Saturday (March 26-27) Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine will host a Waterslide-A-Thon benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters from 5pm Fri-4:59pm Sat. The Waterslide-A-Thon is open to the public from 10pm Fri-9am Sat. You and your family can take as many trips down the slide for a mere $5 per person sans hotel stay. While you won’t have full access to the park, visitors will be able to slide down the River Canyon Run as many times as desired. Each trip down the slide (for kids 42 inches and taller) counts toward the Great Wolf Lodge’s aspiration of breaking the Guinness World Record for “Longest Distance Water Sliding in 24 Hours.” Additionally, the water park will boast live entertainment, games and prizes throughout the night.
And, what’s better is that this event doesn’t have limited tickets like the last benefit hosted by Great Wolf Lodge (which we blogged about here). Unlimited passes are available and open to the public; pick up your tickets upon arrival (they cannot be purchased in advance).
