We’ve all heard of Little Bean. You know the store in Dallas that has hip apparel, shoes, accessories and more for kids … and has moms green with envy of their youngsters’ clothes and left wishing, “If only they had that dress in my size!” (Hey, we can dream!) Which is why it is hard for us to say, but we have some bittersweet news for y’all.
Sad news: Little Bean will be closing its boutique storefront in East Dallas on November 6. Those of us that were fortunate enough to attend one of their side-walk sales, author visits or little fêtes will be able to look back on those times and smile! (After all, it’s not often that a shop offers parents a little bubbly while simultaneously providing kids with fun entertainment like face painting and tunes to listen to.)
Good news: Before you shed any tears (while thinking about where you will go to find those one-of-a-kind pieces designed by Christine Visneau and hard-to-find clothing lines and books), you’ll find minor relief knowing that the online store and blog will still be up and going. And, for those of you who are sensory shoppers (you like to see and touch items in person), fear not because Little Bean’s plans include seasonal pop-up shops.

Deep in the heart of the social season, we wouldn’t be surprised if you’re turning down invitations right and left for a night on the town. Even if you have a date with your couch (after the little ones are put to bed) this Friday, we would cordially like to invite you to a (tame, but more exciting than the couch thing…) party that’s cool and casual. This Friday, Little Bean + DallasChild are hosting a book signing with Daily Candy L.A.’s editor for her book, Prudent Advice at Little Bean in Dallas. The first 100 people to buy two or more books will get a swag bag that even we’re jealous of. And if that’s not incentive enough, a Lou Lou Ghost Chair is yours for the taking (if you win the raffle!). If you haven’t experienced one of our collaborative fêtes, now’s the time to be our guest.
See you there!

….Bollywood style. That’s right…bollywood. Little Bean and Simple Lovely (the blog from one of our favorite bloggers and writers, Joslyn Taylor) are opening up a pop-up shop for Rikshaw Designs this Friday, September 3 from 6-8pm. Meet the designer, Catherine Fitzsimmons, browse the bollywood-styled shop and listen to some tunes (not all bollywood) by DJ Lacy (who happens to be yours truly). A good night of music, sweets and (of course) adult drinks for the adults (obviously). Not to mention ooh-ing and ahh-ing over Catherine’s designs. Bring your kids too…it’ll be a party for the books!
